The Trade Me CompareMe Chrome Extension is designed with a strict "privacy-first" and local-only philosophy. We believe that your search history, vehicle preferences, and housing candidates are entirely personal. That is why this extension does not collect, transmit, or share any user data.
When you browse Trade Me listings and explicitly choose to save a listing by clicking the "Save to Compare" button, the extension extracts only the following public listing details:
These fields are extracted dynamically from the webpage DOM and structured metadata elements of the listing pages you actively choose to save.
All extracted listing details are processed and stored entirely offline in your browser's local sandbox using the chrome.storage.local Chrome API.
We do not operate any background servers, remote databases, API gateways, or tracking systems. None of your extracted listing data, browsing behavior, or search queries ever leave your local computer. There is zero network communication or data synchronisation with remote infrastructure.
Because we do not collect or transmit user data to any external location, it is impossible for us to share, sell, distribute, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.
To operate securely, the extension requests minimal permissions under Chrome's Manifest V3 standard:
You have full, immediate control over all data stored by the extension:
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in extension features or Chrome Developer Program policies. Any revisions will be published immediately on this page and will include an updated "Last Updated" timestamp.
